Overview

CyberGhost isn't as extensive as other VPN providers, but it offers a solid free VPN option, especially for those who live in Europe. Most of their servers are located in Europe, and functionality there is high. In the United States, however, there are only a few servers, making CyberGhost a less desireable option.

The CyberGhost services allow you to surf the web anonymously, unblock streaming websites, protect your wi-fi connection, torrent anonymously, unblock basic websites, and choose your VPN server.

Unlimited bandwidth, an anti-fingerprinting system, and AES-256 bit encryption help ensure your security.

Setup

CyberGhost is very easy to set up. The interface is extremely user-friendly, and all you have to do is download their program, install, and sign up for an account. The only problem with their setup process is that many users report having trouble loading their help page in order to seek advice during setup malfunctions.

Features & Key USP

CyberGhost is one of very few VPN providers located primarily in Europe. They are also one of few VPN providers to offer a free account option. After that, you can purchase their Premium plan for as little as $5.83 per month, but you can only connect one device. The Premium Plus plan is as low as $9.16 per month and allows you to connect up to 5 devices. The free version also only offers 3 hours per session.

CyberGhost does not offer a lot of advanced functionality, and load times can sometimes be slow. However, performance for CyberGhost is acceptable and, depending on your location, might even be better than some other VPN providers.

Reliability

CyberGhost is fairly reliable, especially if you are in Europe. However, some users have reported having trouble loading pages and experiencing very long load times.

Speed

With 250 servers in over 20 countries, CyberGhost does not come out on top in terms of speed, but they do operate at respectable speeds. The free version is fairly slow, but Premium and Premium Plus accounts run well.

Countries Available

CyberGhost is still only available in 24 countries, most of them European. They do not operate anywhere in Asia or Latin America. You can access CyberGhost from Austria, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Spain, Finland, France, United Kingdom, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Singapore, Ukraine, and the United States.

Final Verdict

CyberGhost is not the best VPN provider, but they do offer on of the most extensive free plans out there. Especially if you're located in Europe, this is a great option for those on a strict budget.

Even if you're looking for something a little more advanced, their Premium Plus package isn't half bad. The main drawback is the lack of server locations, but again, if you're in Europe, that shouldn't make a big difference.
